Places We Eat

Here's a list of some of the places in the Bay Area we like to eat with our kids. Check the discussion groups to meet up with us sometime!

Barclay's Pub (Oakland) — Several of the kids in East Bay Dads learned to walk by the kegs at Barclay's. Good pub food, salads, and excellent beers. 5940 College Ave.

Ben & Nick's (Oakland) — Pub in Rockridge with good pub food and excellent beers. 5612 College Ave.

Bo's Barbecue (Lafayette) — Barbecue joint in Lafayette. (Yes, barbecue in Lafayette. Who'da thunk?) Lotsa artsy stuff, including live music, but who can hear that over screaming kids? 3422 Mt Diablo Blvd.

Cato's Ale House (Oakland) — Just another Oakland pub with good food and excellent beers. 3891 Piedmont Ave.

Europa Hof Brau (Orinda) — Definitely the cheesiest place in Orinda. It has a place in back for kids, with violent video games, a climbing structure and slide, and big tables to eat at. Sort of like The Jungle, but smaller (and with decent food and beer choices and no pee-soaked ball pits). 64 Moraga Way.

Lanesplitter Pubs (Berkeley, Oakland, & Emeryville) — Good thin crust pizza, plus they've got vegan ricotta for the thick crust pizza. And great beers. 2033 San Pablo Ave, 4799 Telegraph Ave, & 3645 San Pablo Ave.

Lawrence Hall of Science (Berkeley) — The Lawrence Hall of Science is more than a great indoor kids science musuem. It's also got a very good cafe with the best view of any restaurant in the East Bay. 1 Centennial Dr.

Pyramid Breweries (Berkeley & Walnut Creek) — Loud, kid friendly, and lots of beer choices. 901 Gilman St & 1410 Locust St.

The New Zealander (Alameda) — Good food, good Kiwi beers (from New Zealand, not made with kiwis), and a kids play area in the corner! 1400 Webster St.

Triple Rock (Berkeley) — The shuffleboard game is gone, but the beer is as excellent as ever and the food is just fine. 1920 Shattuck Ave.
